Job Title: Application Engineer
Department: Sales
Reports to: Sales Manager
Purpose and Scope
Works with outside and inside sales and our
channel partners, OEMs and End-Users as in-house expert on
products, materials and applications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing sales and reps
with drawings and quote approvals
- Assist sales, reps, customers and prospects
in solving application questions
- Gather essential information from prospective
purchaser
- Recommend materials/products for specific
applications
- Turn all quotes around within 48 hours
or less
- Enter formal quotes, provide concept drawings
and quotes
- Work with vendors to familiarize yourself
with all products and materials available
- Answers all technical questions
- Handle customer returns with the customer
and vendor
- Assist order entry desk in tracking quotes
- Verifies sales selection
- Maintains technical knowledge of entire
product line and applications associated with them
- Maintains and monitors FAQs on web site
- Outside sales single contact point for all
matters outside of complaints
- Updates account activity as it occurs
- Enter new data into single data base
- Analyze customer and in-house technical
complaints, inquiries and concerns
- Assist in error proofing systems and processes
throughout the company
- Participate in customer meetings to ensure
that all customer expectations are met.
- Recommend and implement QC and QA procedures
throughout the company
- Assist ASI in meeting ISO standards
- Update QC procedures and the company’s
QC procedures manual.
- Perform internal department audits
Education and Training
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering is a plus. Familiarity
with mechanical seals, gaskets, o-rings and materials a must.
Direct customer contact/sales experience a major plus.
Current Quarter Goals
Primary:
- Create technical library of recommended
products and materials for
- Acquire the knowledge to create a quote
by application, industry and market
- Acquire the knowledge to answer all major
and minor technical questions
- Establish written policies, procedures,
systems and processes to effectively work with sales to
help them meet their objectives
- Provide technical assistance and input
to any sales presentation and/or seminar
- Acquire the skills, knowledge and polish
to deal with customers on the telephone
- Understand our lead/data base management
system and processes
- Familiarize yourself with our reps, customers
and prospects
