Lathe
cuts are used in the same applications as o-rings. They seal
by elastic deformation of the cross section between two members
being sealed. Any elastomer can be used to produced this product.
Lathe
cuts can be manufactured by either molding or extruding a tube
of rubber to produce the correct inside diameter and wall thickness
and then the tube is cut into precise short lengths to obtain
thickness. In some cases the outside diameter can be ground
to a close tolerance for applications where that is important.
Chamfers can be applied in the same manner.
Equivalent
o-ring sizes are available from stock in this product.
