In the rare occurence that All Seals does not have an existing material, we can develop one to meet your application parameters perfectly. Our engineering staff are experts in understanding and interpreting ASTM and SAE material specifications. The primary drivers that affect cost and lead-time in new compound development include:

  • Material type
  • Application temperature range
  • Length of exposure for material approval testing
  • Any special regulatory requirements (UL , NSF, FDA, etc.)

All Seals’s compound development laboratories are fully accredited and accordingly, can supply prompt, credible test data.  Below is a list of All Seals’s laboratory equipment available for compound development:

  • Rheometer (Measures curing properties.)
  • Tensile Tester (Measures tensile and elongation properties.)
  • Specific Gravity Meter (Measures the material density.)
  • Ozone Exposure Tester (Determines susceptibility to ozone attack.)
  • Temperature Retraction Tester (Measures TR10, a critical low temperature sealability point.)
  • Low Temperature Brittleness Tester (Measures ASTM D2000 low temperature brittleness requirement.)
  • Thermo Gravimetric Analyzer (Useful analytical tool to determine compound component content.)
  • Durometer (Measures material hardness.)
  • Oil Batch Testing (Determines resistance to various types of oils.)
  • PH Probe (Measures if solutions are acidic, basic or neutral.)
  • Multiple Ovens (Used in exposure testing, heat aging or compression set.)
  • Lab Mixer (Small mixer for laboratory batches.)
